The SQL Formatter plugin for TablePlus adds a new menu Format SQL in the main TablePlus menu area and its Plugins submenu. With this new option, you can prettify all the SQL queries you entered in the SQL panel.

As you can see, there is a keyboard combination of ctrl + i to help you achieve the same result faster.

Surprisingly, you don’t need this plugin at all even though it’s distributed and easily available within the TablePlus app. Technically, it doesn’t even work anymore.

The reason for that is easy – the latest version of TablePlus (for several years already) has this feature built-in, and it’s called Beautify and Uglify. And you can find it right at the bottom of your SQL panel.

How to use

1. Open an SQL Query panel.
2. Select a statement.
3. Old way: Menu > Plugins > Format SQL
4. New way: cmd + i or shift + cmd + i or just click on the Beautify/Uglify buttons.
